and it all ended so quickly..

Yep... theolo has ended.

The seemingly long 22 day course at 1st glance, has drifted past and is now but a memory embedded within the human mind.

Well, this 2nd year of theolo for me, I would say, indeed felt alot different than the one I experienced when I first entered the realm of student theology training last year. Hmm.. for some reason I noticed many shadows of my former experience in a few of year 1s this time..

Anyways, I was nominated duty group leader for some unfounded reason. Well, have to say it was fun ordering people around to clean and make life easier for everyone else :D But, oh well, leaders always have to do the most xing ku job in the end.. i.e. soloing & inspecting toilets and clearing multiple trash. Have to say that I feel really honoured and glad to have such wonderful brothers and sisters in my group, ever so willing to volunteer themselves to prepare meals and clear the sinks :)
Special thanks to co-leader KJ for leading the sisters so well... (other than the 2 late breakfast incidents...)

Indeed, this journey has been more of a spiritual experience for me... especially with the presence of Pr Gideon Huang and his great mysteries coupled with his power singing and hearty laughter (not forgetting Pr Amos Chou and his many, many, many fun stories :D). Though at times he dwelves too much into human psychology while explaing the Scriptures (which of course leaves youngsters like us in a trance-like stance called BLUR), I have to really thank him alot for explaing to us in detail (or at least try to) on the works and experiences of the H/S on the individual, which really made me ponder and meditate much.


Exhortation To Fellow Theolo Brethrens:

Indeed, we have gone up Mt Sinai for many days where we have recieved and learned much of His commandments and teachings. Through this period of spiritual nurture away from the toils and worries of this world, our faces are now shining with the glory and radiance of the Word and the Spirit. Now, the time of our descent is at hand. The time has come for us to re-enter to our very own tents that have been pitched in this world. Indeed, we have heard of the evil that is lurking and brooding in the place where we are returning to, sin so strong that the consuming fire awaits till that day to utterly destroy.

Yet, will we have the courage to rid of all these sinful desires that threaten to pollute our hearts and draw us into the eternal fire? Will we have the determination to melt and grind this idol of gold in our hearts which we have established through the luxuries and pleasures of this world? Will we have that zeal to once again ascend Mt Sinai to renew and recieve yet again the covenants that are so easily crumbled and forgotten in the human mind? Will we have the descipline to adhere strictly to Him, to follow ever so faithfully to the pillar of cloud and fire that guides us ahead, as we strive to reach that promised kingdom of milk and honey?

Or will we murmur against Him, or succumb to our fleshly desire, or even tempt Him, as we travel this long and ardous wilderness road, with the Amalekites ever ready to strike us when we are weary and off-guard? Will we even go to the extent of defying His very word and strike the rock at Rephidim twice just to bring physical pleasure and comfort to our carnal desires?

The answer, lies within us.


Well, the 2007 theolo has come to a close. Let us look forward to 340 days later... when the last installment (at least for my bunch) ji jiang lai lin... theolo 2008.
