But He knows the way that I take; When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.

another chapter closes

and so the scholastic IB year 5 has ended just like that. Funny, this entire year feels just a like dream to me, with each day, week and month drifting by, defying the laws of inertia like nobodys business, until the alarm clock abruptly rings and wakes one up from his slumber and into the realisation that that long night has so quickly come to a close. Perhaps its those uber long school hours coupled with extra-curricular CAS activities and IAs, and maybe even the umpteen amounts of friday-sunday holidays that just makan all our weeks away. Or it could just be my poor short-termish memory lah. Well, I really want to thank God that even though this is already my fifth year in the same, expensive institution, I still havent gotten sick of the canteen food yet and Im also glad for the fresh injection of a foreign alien species into the ACS year 5 population which inevitably results in much intra-specific competition (wooo i still remember my bio) and not forgetting the whole lot of biasness, earth-tremors, and just pure random nonsenses =)

also feel very delighted to have been a member of 5.8'08 Kings. Have to say that I have really made a few good friends in just a short year of acquaintance and also very fortunate to have met people from all woks of life, from bengs, to malaysian gangsters, to gepers, to gamers, to uber-smarties, to jammers, to sleepers, to prata-seller, to communists and many other interesting sorts. Taken many pictures as well to remember the wonderful experiences. I guess my only regret this year is not getting to know many classmates as well due to the omnipresent, very obviously evident, yet muchly denied barrier that sadly shatters the class into several divisions. Perhaps this is a common disease in non-intact classes, or simply just the unwillingness for one to accept another? I do have my reservations, and even certain ideals and suggestions if I may boldly say(must be the ASMish spirit that still kindles within me haha), yet im but a lowly class photographer who has unfortunately been classified under a less dominant group. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak and limitations are strong. No offense whatsoever, but all that I hope is for the class committee to better buck up and do something this hols and next year. Frankly, I see only the chairman and vice being the most active, others are either stoning, ponning, or just dont give a damn. I hear the slight whistling of class t-shirts and class chalet, yet I do not feel the wind at all, so should i not expect to see the leaves rustling? I'm by no means suan-ing or judging anybody, but just expressing my views on my personal space, hope you will understand. On 2nd thought, I guess my role as a class photographer cant be treated too lightly upon as well. After all, it is I that put every1 together in those pictures with extraordinary grins and darlie smiles. Well, my cam will always be on standby, waiting for that green flashing man to pop up anytime on my handphone or msn window, waiting for that call of duty.

Ok, enough of such meaningless ramblings that wont sink into peoples' heads. Im now officially a MICHAEL BUBLE FAN!!! I think he is like the greatest jazz singer in the world after listening to around 20 of his all-time favourites. Am also now a camless photographer just waiting for all major cam stores to resupply their D90s and hopefully offer competitive prices!! Am also now a procrastinator. Why? Because the holidays are here mah!!!!

*since this is a 1am post, do forgive the weird engrish

the weekends

was an interesting one. started off with a BANG: exam results on friday. Well, I have to say that I'm frankly quite satisfied with my result of 36/42 pts. Though, as compared to the other IB muggers taking double science and math at higher levels, I should be getting more pts la hahaha. Of course there were the new misses; 3% more to 5pts for maths & 0.5% more to 7pts for econs, but hey, why aim so high when u can surprise yourself again in the next exam =) Was also pleasantly surprised to see my name appearing on the top 9(or 10) list for 4 papers (Eng SL, Chinese B HL, Malay Ab, Bio SL), but hey, these are kacang putih subjects lah... & I also just want to take a few lines here to give all glory to God for guiding me throughout the entire mugging and exam period la, for without all Him, all these would not have been possible. To God Be The Glory, The Best is Yet to Be...

and then there was Canon Photomarathon 2008 on Saturday, where close to 1300 professionals of all ages converged into Suntec City to hone off their mastery in the art of photography, and of course 我也不例外. Competition was from 9am to 10.30pm, with registration starting at 7am. And needless to say, I pangseh the compy by like 1+pm to attend sabbath afternoon service at Adam Rd; Senior Members Day mah, so must show my support!! Well basically in this compy, you will be given a theme and have exactly 3.5 hours to hunt all over Singapore for your best shot and upload it to the comps there. No photoshop or editing, pure raw composing and techniques. Rinse and repeat 2 more times, and u have a full day photomarathon competition. The 3 themes for this year were: Change, Dreams and Freedom. Of course i attended only the 1st 1 la.. and without a shadow of a doubt I can say that it is FULL OF CRAP

must have been influenced too much by those people-not-clearing-their-trays pictures that have been popping up in the straits times everyday like pop-corns. Also, the sunrays seeping through the thick canopy of leaves and landing directly on that pile of trash was too tempting... Well photography is an art lah, dun understand, then too bad lor XD (could have gotten a better angle, but the army of red ants couldnt wait!!)

lastly, ended off with a short 1 night stayover in church with some bros and sis. Though its my first time there, I have to say it was quite fun and enjoyable lah, just sitting in the library having TCSS (talk cock sing song) sessions till midnight and going for supper at Macs until 1+ am. Really takes bio prac, new EE topic, selection of TOK final essay question, & World Lit topic off my mind. Sadly, this only occurs once in a month lah, but hey, I strongly recommend all TJC youths especially my uber-beloved class of IY'08s to attend; defintely would be a shiok night to remember.

alright. Looks like my bio prac would have to push to tomorrow to do liao. Now all thats left is to prepare a convincing script as to how my precious Bio prac got kidnapped by Chinanese phone scammers and unfortunately got burned though I tried my best to stay on the line but got cut off due to their china-made sim cards overheating after 10 minutes of talk-time. Sounds dam realistic right??

sing-a-long

(2nd song on the playlist)

Reach Out to Jesus

Is your bur-den heav-y as you bear it all a-lone?
Does the road you tra-vel har-bor danger yet un-known?
Are you grow-ing wea-ry in the strug-gle of it all?
Je-sus will help you when on His name you call.

He is al-ways there, hear-ing ev-ery prayer, faith-ful and true;
Walk-ing by our side, in His love we hide all the day through.
When you get dis-cour-aged just re-mem-ber what to do
Reach out to Je-sus, He's reach-ing out to you.

Is the life you're liv-ing filled with sor-row and des-pair?
Does the fu-ture press you with its wor-ry and its care?
Are you tired and friend-less, have you al-most lost your way?
Je-sus will help you, just come to Him to-day.

He is al-ways there, hearing ev-ery prayer, faith-ful and true;
Walk-ing by our side, in His love we hide all the day through.
When you get dis-cour-aged just re-mem-ber what to do
Reach out to Je-sus, He's reach-ing out to you.

wah

exams over liao. after crushing that cross-filled piece of 4 weeks worth of exam revision schedule stucked to my wall with the help of puny bluetags which keeps on flying off when my fan turns on to 3 and annoys me when i have to stick it back and be reminded that i have not touched my ps3 for that 4 weeks of anguish and torture and still have x number of days to go before liberation, YEAH i felt alot better. Well, didnt think i did too badly for my papers, ok maybe except HL maths as Im most certainly sure to have secured a free, 2 weeks holiday stay at ACS conc camp from end Oct to start Nov. Woohooo, cant just get enough of my acs education, gotta put that Nov/Dec worth of school fees to good use as well.

HAPPY BDAY JM!! My fellow level-mate with the exact same unique subject combi as me who is suay enough to kenna postponement of chinese paper 2 to the last day; your birthday. http://www.new.facebook.com/album.php?aid=61062&l=296be&id=779326336
Want to thank the Swenson's guy who kept his cool even though he didnt know what the viewfinder was.

AND YES. After much financial planning, pondering, reasoning, rationalising, deliberating, reflecting, speculating, meditating, dreaming, ... (rinse & repeat), in other words, considering the depreciation, resale value and future usage over the next 3 years, I have finally decided to get the D90!! Sell off my D80+grip+50 f1.8 hopefully at reasonable price, starve for a few weeks to top up a few hundred more, and hey-presto. (If for some reason you have been planning to get a DSLR and somehow have SGD 1000 to spare, PM ME :D )

Alrighty then, its 2 days of break, and then time for TOK presentation and EE planning!!
