Theme for this SM was "A Life of Servitude". Have to say that over the course of the long weekend, I have learned much on leading a life of servitude through the examples of OT prophets and NT apostles through sermons, group discussion and sharings.
Just some verses to summarise our life of servitude to God whom has redeemed us from sin with His blood, facing trials with the power of the H/S, and the ultimate end of our servitude when our Jubilee comes.
.
"But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life."
Rom 6:22
Rom 6:22
"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed"
2 Cor 4:7-9
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal."
2 Cor 4:16-18
"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.
'He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be His God and he shall My son.' "
Rev 21:4, 7
.
Well, one thing that truly inspired me was the younger TK bros who were ever so willing to wake up at 6+am to take a 1hr+ bus ride to Adam Rd just to attend the morning prayer for all 3 days. To one who only takes a 45mins straight bus ride and yet still feels lazy to go for service, I can only but feel ashamed of myself. Truly, this selfless act is worthy of our emulation.
.
To the work! to the work! we are servants of God.
Let us follow the path that our master has trod;
With the balm of His counsel our strength to renew,
Let us do with our might what our hands find to do.
Toiling on, toiling on, Toiling on, toiling on;
Let us hope, and trust, let us watch, and pray,
And labor till the Master comes.
Hymn 282
